JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Nursery Assistant
Responsible to: Little Oaks Committee
Nursery Manager: Debbie Sammons
Responsible for: Offering the highest quality of care and education to the children in our pre-school, within the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines.
Emergency cover is required as and when for sickness
Rate of pay: Wage will depend on qualifications attained.
Main Duties:
To work under the direction of the Nursery manager, ensuring quality of care for all children at all times.
Assist with the setting out of the room, with care given to covering the six areas of learning.
Carry out activities as directed by the manager.
Be prepared to undergo further training where necessary.
Assist co-workers to maintain level of cleanliness throughout the premises.
Specific responsibilities:
1. When setting out the room use short term plans and activity sheets to ensure appropriate equipment is available for all staff, provide a range of further equipment to ensure opportunities are available for the children to experience all six areas of learning.
2. Maintain records of children’s progress through assessment and observation.
3. Operate within the key worker system, to ensure maximum cooperation and quality of care for worker/child and parent. This will actively promote sharing of information between school and home.
4. If the manager is not present, be available to talk with other professionals who may visit the facility. Report back to the manager on their return.
5. Abide by the statement for managing behaviour.
Overview:
Little Oaks Pre-school is run by a committee made up of parents and carers of the children attending the group. We accept children during term time ages 2 to 5 and during the holidays 2 to 8. We are open 50 weeks of the year, closing for the 2 week Christmas holiday.
